Rugby Update April

Updates

Good afternoon Rugby family! We hope that everyone is staying safe, healthy and as sane as possible. We wanted to send out a quick update of where everything stands from our position, based on what we know.

Despite rumors that an official decision has been made in regards to schools being closed for the remainder of the year, nothing has been officially declared as of this posting by the governor.

The governor will make her announcement in regards to schools and their future for the rest of the year sometime Thursday, is what we have been told. After her announcement is made MHSAA will determine how and what exactly the spring season will look like for this year. There are a lot of contingency plans that have been worked out for several different scenarios but they are all contingent upon the direction the governor and local authorities take. Once all these steps are taken and we have been given details and information on what the next steps will be, we will notify everyone. This information will include details on if we need to keep any money that has been sent in for the season. No checks have been cashed as we are hoping that if there is a shortened season, we can keep dues down to a minimal (or zero) amount as we know this current situation is incredibly difficult for a lot of people financially.

We do ask that everyone please be patient with us all as we try to figure this out and know that we have your ruggers best interest at heart. It is truly our desire to see all these boys on the pitch, even if it is for only a game or two, a lot of these boys have worked very hard to compete this season and we want to give them that chance if at all possible. We know that for our senior ruggers this is an incredibly important season please let them know that we are all working to try and give them their last season.

We also want to ask that everyone please look to the coaches for answers on any of your questions or to address your concerns. There are so many rumors and sources of misinformation that are running rampant at the moment and in an effort to keep everyone calm and accurately informed, we ask that you come to us directly. We are here for you and your ruggers as much as we possibly can be during this time. If you are unable to get ahold of one of the coaches please reach out to another coach, between the 3 of us, you will be able to get ahold of one of us to help answer your questions and concerns!

Biggest thanks goes out to Coach Shawn who is working relentlessly in the lab of our hospitals to help us all move into the next phase of this crisis and a HUGE thank you to Coaches girlfriend Gina, who is on the front lines working in the ER department. We thank you and appreciate you both so much!!

GO RAMS!
