Rugby Week of March 1st

Updates

Welcome to March and our first week of official practice for the season!! We look forward to seeing all ruggers coming out for practice this week as we venture on the road to the state championship for 2020.

FORMS: Your rugger MUST have their physicals into the athletic office and their forms returned to us in order to practice and participate in the 2020 season. If we do not have these forms by weeks end your rugger will have to sit out at practices until the forms are received. Bring your forms to practice and give them to Coach Gent, Coach Dauser or Coach Crosby (Coach Crosby has mono and will be attending practices when possible).

DUES/REGISTRATION: Register, register, register at the Michigan Rugby site!! Information for this site can be found on the website on the right hand side of the page and in the parent information tab. Fees for the club are due in 2 weeks to ensure we can pay for all of the fields, equipment and sirs (referees) for our matches. You MUST register on the schools site for the spring athletic season, please visit https://rockfordrams.org/2020/02/19/attention-spring-sport-athletes-new-registration-process/ to complete this.

PRACTICES: Practices move to the west river boat launch (3277 Indian Dr NE, Plainfield Charter Township, MI 49306) from 3:30-5:30pm starting Monday. Practices are held everyday at the same time in the same location. The field is usually wet, muddy and can be cold so ensure that your rugger dresses APPROPRIATELY. Additionally, it’s a good idea to have towels or something of the sort for your ruggers to sit on in their (or your) vehicles. They will be dirty and muddy and there is no where for them to change out of their clothes at the launch.

RIDES FOR PRACTICE: If your rugger needs a ride to practice please have them get in touch with Aidan Crosby by either text, email or group chat. He will ensure that they have a ride from the school to the field. Several players drive from the school to the field for practice and tend to carpool so please don’t hesitate to have your rugger reach out!

YARD SIGNS: Yard signs for your rugger are coming back this year! Thanks to our generous parent Mike Peterson, we will have yard signs for sale again this year. This year, they will be made of durable plastic material, will have the RRFC logo with your ruggers first name on it and will be in the shape of a rugby ball. If you would like one of these signs or have questions regarding these signs please reach out to Mike directly at mike@teampetersen.net.

HIP HIP HOORAY: A big congratulation and job well done to our ruggers that ventured out to LA for the LA sevens series held this weekend. Matt Schoenborns’ team went 2-3 in the premier league and Ethan Schroeders’ team went 3-2. Both ruggers did a phenomenal job in defensive play, passing and offloading. Well done to our ruggers and cheers to a safe return home.

MATCH VOLUNTEERS: We still need volunteers for our home matches, this is a MUST. We cannot put on a good match if we do not have anyone to help set it up and run the gate. Please if you have not signed up to volunteer, do so for the home matches. This is a crucial part of our season and we want to put our best foot forward as we host other schools in home matches. Visit the sign up genius link on the website to help the club out!
